Tips are an important part of the wage. Not only does a tip motivate local people to better performance, but also represents a significant part of income (as the basic wage within the package is very small), and is a way to express your appreciation. The tip is usually given at the end of each trip according to your contentment and means — between 10-15% (standard level) and 20% of the total price (or more depending on your level of excitement). Giving no tip is only possible in the event of very poor performance.

Package tours: Include transport from the hotel to Kilimanjaro gate and back to the hotel; park fees; tents, camping fees and accomodation in huts; 3 meals a day; wages for the crews. Do not include sleeping bags.

Due to high inflation rates, entrance fees in parks and stays in hotels need to be paid in US dollars (or Euros). Tanzanian shillings are used to pay in shops and restaurants.
