Mt. Meru

At 4565 m, Mt. Meru belongs among the highest mountains in Africa. Climbing Mt. Meru is often used as acclimatization before an attempt to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro. However it is no less interesting. In its lower part you cross a rain forest where you can encounter many species of birds, monkeys, but also leopards. The peak is known for its characteristic volcanic cone shape, formed in the original old crater. The mountain also provides a unique view of Kilimanjaro.
