UNESCO World Heritage Sites

Fort Jesus in Mombasa was built by the Portuguese (1593-1596) to protect the port. It is a very well preserved example of 16th century Portuguese military fortification. Date of Inscription: 2011

I can arrange for transportation to Lamu Old Town on the Eastern side of Lamu Island (Kenya), which is the oldest and best-preserved Swahili settlement in East Africa, famous for its architecture with Arabic ornaments, inner courtyards and verandas. There is also an ancient fort and a traditional market. The town has become a centre for the study of Islamic and Swahili cultures. Date of Inscription: 2001
